Our School Council is an important part of our school.
The School Council is one of the ways we give pupils opportunities to have input into the life of our school in support of our school mission statement ‘Love, laugh and learn together’. There are two representatives elected from each Key Stage One class each year. We meet every half term to share the views and ideas of their classmates on various topics. This gives pupils an introduction to how politics and government work and gives the children a voice in developing our school.
We also look at our links with the wider world and may have visits to explore this such as visiting Westminster, contacting our MP or local council and working with the new PTA.
Over the past few years the council has discussed ‘Creativity’, ‘Recycling’ and worked on projects to make our outdoor environment a better place e.g. the reading area in the Key Stage 1 playground.
We are currently organising our paper recycling collections and will be looking into ‘Improving Playtimes’ in the new year.
We take the ‘voices of our children’ very seriously and will always do our best to listen to their suggestions, opinions and comments. We ensure Norwood Green has the children’s best interests at heart in everything we do.
