 School Meals & Nutrition

Children at Norwood Green Infants have the choice of either a school meal or a packed lunch.  Menus are provided termly by an external company called Wilson Jones. The meals are freshly cooked on site juniors school kitchen, and transported over to the Infants School where they are served to our children.

Every day the children have the option of a main dish, a vegetarian dish or a halal dish. They will always have the option of fish on Friday. Alongside these options there is a choice of jacket potato, a filled roll, seasonal vegetables, salad, fresh fruit and fresh bread. Children are also provided with fresh water. Should your child have any dietary requirements for medical or religious reasons please notify the school.

All school lunch choices need to be booked two weeks in advance, online. If you miss the two week deadline, you will have to provide your child with a packed lunch.

Packed Lunch

Packed lunches must be brought into school in a suitable lunch box. They are stored outside the classrooms, on trollies until lunchtime.

Please do not include nuts of any type, including sesame seeds or nut containing products such as peanut butter or Nutella in sandwiches or cereal bars containing nuts.

This is due to a high number of children having severe allergies within the school. Please do not include any fizzy drinks, sweets or chocolate. Also ensure grapes, cherry tomatoes or any similar fruit are cut in half length-ways to minimise the risk of your child choking.

Please ensure your child has a balanced meal that contains something savoury, such as a sandwich/roti and also a piece of fresh fruit.

School Milk

Our school milk is supplied by Cool Milk Ltd. Under 5's receive milk free of charge; you simply need to register that your child would like to have it. Milk is supplied at a subsidised rate for over 5's.

Please visit the Cool Milk website to register your child and to manage payments if your child is over 5 years old. We do encourage parents to take up this option.

Fresh Fruit

Children aged 4-6 Years are entitled to a free piece of fruit each day from the National Fruit Scheme. We encourage all children to eat a piece of fruit every day. Children may also bring in a piece of fruit for playtime if they wish.
